Black Nickel plating process is electrolytic in nature, similar to bright and dull nickel plating and is often given for aesthetic purpose. They are given as a coat over bright nickel for a black, glossy finishes, and over dull nickel for a black, matte finishes. Black nickel offers good corrosion resistance and maintains good electrical conductivity while reducing the reflectivity of the surface. It is given usually as a flash coat (given for a very short time period) and gives a beautiful dark finish to the objects. Often given as a coat over aluminium, stainless steel, brass, copper and bronze to enhance their finish and appearance.
